The Gibbon Bridge Hotel

Janet Simpson, with the unfailing support of her late mother, Margaret, created the Gibbon Bridge Hotel from the family farm, incorporating some rather amazing Gothic masonry from a dismantled church in Blackburn. The hotel’s philosophy is that guests should feel they are “being spoiled in their own home.” Since its opening in 1982, the Gibbon Bridge has been a staunch supporter of local producers, such as Leagram’s Dairy, Johnson and Swarbrick, Brendan Anderton, Bowland Brewery and Dunsters Farm yogurt, and the menu features Morecambe Bay shrimps seasoned with paprika and dill and Lancashire black pudding.

As much as possible is produced at the four-star hotel, including raspberries, plums, tomatoes, blackberries, cauliflower, carrots and beans, and herbs from a dedicated herb garden. Janet used to bake pies and cakes and sell them at Blackburn market and this passion is reflected in an in-house bakery that produces bread and desserts every day.

Food for thought…

  • The restaurant & conservatory overlooks award-winning gardens with beautiful view of Longridge fell.
  • In the summer, there is an al-fresco dining experience on the terraces under three new thatched pergolas and Janet will personally cook lunch or dinner for you by arrangement. If you need to work off over-indulgence, there is a small gym and tennis court for residents.
